Description: This guide will walk you through how to setup Microsoft Authenticator for your office 365 account.
If you are adding the authenticator then scroll down to "How to add when MFA is already setup:"
1. Once you are enrolled in MFA, you will see this box the next time you try to sign in, select next:
2. Next, you will see a screen asking you to install Microsoft Authenticator. On your Apple or Android, browse to the app store and browse for "Microsoft Authenticator". Once you have the app installed, click Next on the screen below
3. On this screen, click Next
4. On your authenticator app, click the '+' in the top right > click work or school account > click Scan QR Code
5. On your computer screen will be the QR code, scan it with your cell phone. Once scanned the 6 digit code will appear in the app.
6. Type this code into your computer to verify the app. Once that is completed, your MFA setup is now ready.
7. When you need to verify MFA, you will be prompted in your outlook app with an image similar to this one below. Open your authenticator app, the app will automatically prompt you to enter your 2 digit code. Enter the 2 digit code from your computer into the app and select approve. Also check the box to not prompt for 7 days. Once this is approved, your outlook will be signed in.
How to add when MFA is already setup:
2. Select your name bottom left > view account
3. Select the security info tab > add sign in method
4. microsoft authenticator > click next twice
5. Open the microsoft authenticator app on your cell phone > add account > work or school > scan QR code
6. Scan the QR code on your computer screen and then click next
7. You will be prompted on your computer with a 2 digit code, enter the code on your phone to verify
8. Once verified, that is all. Microsoft authenticator setup is complete
